Khariar College was established on 21 October 1977, coinciding with Vijaya Dashami. Initially, it began with 67 students and received government concurrence for Intermediate of Arts (IA) in 1979, Bachelor of Arts (BA) in 1980, and Science & Commerce streams in 1986–87.

CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT:

In 1986, the college moved to its current campus, which spans over 30.25 acres of land donated by Rani Sahiba Soubhagya Manjari Devi.
